Il nyotaimori o naked sushi si è trasformato in una moda culinaria praticata nelle catene alimentari di lusso statunitensi ma resta ancora un mistero da spiegare, il fatto sta che l'usanza, in verità costosa - dai 70 dollari a persona del Minnesota ai 500 per un gruppo di quattro di Chicago per finire ai 1000 dollari di Los Angeles - si sta diffondendo con una certa capillarità negli Usa dove ha messo radice anche nella tradizionalmente morigeratissima, e prevalentemente cristiano-conservatrice, Bible Belt. Con ovvio corollario di polemiche sulla mercificazione del corpo della donna.Sebbene se ne discuta come di una novità assoluta il nyotaimori negli Usa aveva destato un qualche scalpore già negli anni Novanta.
